About

Pilot Demonstrator 9 focuses on improving the monitoring and prediction of inland water levels and port areas exposed to extreme weather events. It develops an innovative approach based on federated learning, combining data from satellites, aerial drones, and in-situ sensors to provide accurate and continuous measurements, even in areas where traditional monitoring systems are limited.

By integrating space-based remote sensing with ground data, PD9 enhances the understanding of water dynamics and supports better forecasting of floods, droughts, and other climate-related risks. This allows port authorities and operators to make more informed decisions, improve infrastructure planning, and increase operational resilience.

Ultimately, PD9 contributes to safer, smarter, and more climate-resilient port ecosystems, offering scalable solutions that can be replicated across European ports and inland waterways.
