About

In Pilot Demonstrator 8, HPA and CON aims to develop a cloud-based digital twin (DT) platform for ports, integrating real-time data streams, simulation tools, and AI-based analytics. The platform will merge data from sensors, forecasts, and alerts using open-source streaming technologies, enabling scenario-based forecasting for extreme events like floods or windstorms. A key feature will be the use of machine learning—especially neural networks—for anomaly detection and predicting ground and sea level changes using Copernicus satellite data. An open API based on port-relevant ontologies will ensure compatibility across systems. A disaster planner and mitigation tool will also be developed, offering multi-criteria optimization for response strategies. To reduce reliance on costly commercial software, the project will assess and test open-source simulation and visualization tools, using BIM and GIS standards to build scalable, 3D digital maps of port infrastructure. The pilot aims to establish a flexible, interoperable DT framework tailored for resilient port operations.
