Pilot Demonstrator 4 focuses on enhancing flood resilience in Hamburg’s polders—commercial areas protected by levees and floodwalls—by developing two digital tools: Flood Impact Control (FPC) software and a Flexible Flood Management (FFM) tool. These tools will support damage prediction, emergency planning, and mobile protection equipment management. Integrated into a digital twin of the port, the tools simulate flooding scenarios and evaluate adaptation measures using fast, volume-based models. Though less detailed than CFD, this approach balances speed and accuracy for large-scale simulations. The tools will help optimize response times, reduce contamination risks, and maintain infrastructure availability. Collaboration with HPA experts and scenario validation will ensure realism and applicability, while ongoing improvements will allow adaptation to other ports.
